Drainage Planning & Installation for New Developments

Clear Drain Services provides drainage support for new-build and development projects across Ellesmere Port, Cheshire, Wirral, Merseyside, North Wales and the wider North West.

We work on projects ranging from individual new-build homes to commercial developments, industrial sites and manufacturing facilities, helping contractors and developers turn drainage plans into correctly installed below-ground drainage systems.

Our team can work alongside contractors, architects, drainage engineers and Building Control throughout the construction process, from initial site works and excavation through to installation, inspection and reinstatement.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you work from existing drainage plans?

Yes. Clear Drain Services can work from drainage drawings and specifications supplied as part of a development, carrying out the excavation and installation required to implement the proposed drainage system.

Can you attend site meetings with Building Control?

Yes. We regularly undertake drainage works where coordination with the wider construction team and Building Control is required, including works that need to remain accessible for inspection before reinstatement.

What does Approved Document H cover?

Approved Document H provides guidance for meeting drainage and waste disposal requirements under the Building Regulations in England. It covers foul water drainage, wastewater treatment systems, rainwater drainage, building over sewers, separate drainage systems and solid waste storage.

Can you help with SuDS?

Yes. Where a sustainable drainage solution has been specified, we can help install the associated drainage infrastructure, including soakaways, infiltration systems, attenuation, surface-water pipework and connections to other SuDS features.

Do you undertake the excavation?

Yes. Clear Drain Services has its own excavation equipment and can undertake the excavation and groundworks associated with drainage installation, helping us manage the project without unnecessarily relying on additional contractors.

Do you install drainage for factories and commercial developments?

Yes. Our drainage teams undertake work across domestic, commercial and industrial developments, including manufacturing facilities, commercial estates and new-build properties.

Can you investigate existing drainage before construction starts?

Yes. CCTV drain surveys, drain tracing and other investigation techniques can be used to establish the condition and location of existing drainage before new works begin.

Supporting Building Regulations Requirements

Below-ground drainage forms an important part of a new development, and drainage works may need to satisfy requirements under the Building Regulations.

Approved Document H provides guidance in England covering foul water drainage (H1), wastewater treatment systems and cesspools (H2), rainwater drainage (H3), building over sewers (H4), separate systems of drainage (H5) and solid waste storage (H6).

The document also includes guidance relating to drainage design, bedding and backfilling, workmanship, testing and inspection, as well as surface-water measures including pervious surfaces, soakaways, infiltration systems and detention ponds.

Clear Drain Services regularly carries out drainage work on construction sites where installations need to be inspected before they are covered or reinstated. We can coordinate our works with the wider site team and Building Control inspection stages where required.
